1. (SBU) The House of Representatives elected Dimeji Saburi
Bankole (PDP, Ogun State) as the new Speaker and Usman Bayero
(PDP, Gombe State) as Deputy Speaker on November 1, following
the resignation of Patricia Etteh and Babangida Nguroje from
the positions of House Speaker and Deputy on October 30
(reftel). Bankole is a leader in the Integrity Group and has
been vocal in his calls for Etteh's resignation. He is known
to the Mission and has been accessible and forthcoming in our
meetings.
