1. (U) This is an action request for human rights verification
required by the Leahy Amendment; see Para. 2.

2. (U) JUSMAG THAI has requested that the Embassy/State Department
complete human rights vetting request for Units and commanders
listed below, which have been selected to attend the course
scheduled below. Embassy Bangkok possesses no credible information
at this time of gross violations of human rights by either these
units or these officers. Embassy Bangkok Political Officer, Melissa
G. Carlson, is the verifying officer for the Embassy/Department of
State.

1st Unit: Ltc.Komkrit Pornsirisak, Commander, 1st Battalion, 1st

2nd Unit: Ltc. Winai Pimai, Commander, 1st Ranger Battalion, 1st
Special Forces Regiment, Lopburi, Royal Thai Army, DPOB: 19 Nov
1968; Sisaket, Thailand.

3rd Unit: Maj. Kraideh Posungnoen, Commander, 3rd Battalion, 8th
Army Infantry Division, 2nd Army Area Command, Khon Khan, Royal Thai
Army, DPOB: 26 Dec 1969; Phrae, Thailand.

4TH Unit: Cpt. Chakid Charoenboon, Company Commander, 24th Long
Range Reconnaissance Patrol Company, 4th Regiment, 3rd Army Area
Command, Phitsanulok, Royal Thai Army, DPOB: 19 Nov 1978;
Nakhonpanum; Thailand.

5th Unit: Ltc. Songpol Ladsaonguen, Commander, 2nd Battalion, 31st
Army Infantry Division, Lopburi, Royal Thai Army, DPOB: 30 Sep 1968;
Ayutthaya, Thailand.

JUSMAG THAI is requesting HRV of these units and unit commanders no
later than 15 NOV 08 in order to meet Department of State, Joint
Staff, SOCOM, SOCPAC and 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne)
administrative requirements.
