H.E. Mr. Barack Obama
President-elect of the United States of America
Washington, D.C.

Your Excellency,

It is with immense pleasure I extend to you, on behalf of the
people of the Republic Bangladesh, my party-the Awami League,
and myself, our warmest congratulations and heartiest
felicitations on your historic election victory on 04
November to the Office of the President of the United States
of America.

I believe your resounding win satisfies the demand for change
in the quality of leadership needed to face the challenges of
a rapidly changing present day world. I also believe with you
at the helm of affairs of the United States of America and
driven by your vision for positive transformations supported
by sound policies, we shall experience the emergence of a
peaceful and prosperous America, and the world.

In Bangladesh, like many countries around the globe, we shall
be anxiously looking forward to your valuable endeavor in
supporting the cause of democracy worldwide; elimination of
all forms of terrorism and diseases; alleviation of poverty;
assistance in productivity and availability of food for all;
reversion of the effects of climate change and global
warming; and stabilization of the turbulent world economy.

I conclude by once again warmly congratulating you, on behalf
of the people of the Republic of Bangladesh, my party - the
Awami League, and myself, on your election as the 44th
President of the United States of America, and wish you and
all members of your family, good health, long life and
happiness, and to the warm and friendly people of your great
country, peace, progress and prosperity.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest
consideration.

/signed/

Minister of Bangladesh (1996-2001)
