After demanding an explanation from the UN Secretary General for the rejection of Lt. Col Filipo Tarakinikini's application for a UN job, regime Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase is now pleading that he be offered the job.

Today's Fiji Times reports that the regime has made a submission to the UN Secretary-General to get Tarakinikini the UN job.

The UN had earlier rejected Tarakinikini's application after reportedly senior civil servants and military officers submitted to the UN that Tarakinikini was involved in the attempted coups of 19 May and 2 November 2000. Tarakinikini was given the green light by the military to take up the Un job with the proviso that he would have to appear before any investigation to answer questions at the military's wish.
