OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM UPDATE - OCT. 10
U.S. military strikes against terrorist and military targets, and humanitarian relief airdrops for the Afghan people, continued for a third day yesterday.
In yesterday's military operations, U.S. forces struck six military targets, using between five and eight land-based bombers and eight to 10 naval strike aircraft. The broad category of targets struck included airfields, air defense sites and infrastructure of the al Qaeda terrorist organization. This included a re-strike on a garrison near Mazar-e-Sharif.
Also yesterday, two U.S. Air Force C-17 transport aircraft flew for a third day in support of humanitarian relief efforts, dropping about 35,000 packets of humanitarian daily rations for the Afghan people.
