Dear friends,

It is becoming clearer by the day that the US/UK axis is preparing for war regardless of the results of the UN inspections in Iraq. Bush and Blair have been desperately seeking any excuse to justify an attack and we can expect one to be manufactured in due course. This makes the planned protest outside the US consulate this Saturday both timely and urgent. The NZ government continues to play a double game deepening the involvement of the NZ military in the so-called ³war on terror² while claiming it has no connection to the planned assault on Iraq. The protest will assemble at QEII Square, downtown, at 11am before moving over to the US Consulate on Customs Street. It¹s our chance to give Bush/Blair/Clark a Christmas antiwar message.

URGENT! AUCKLAND CITY VOTERS: If every person on this email list prints out & signs the petition below and posts it to PO Box 1553 Shortland Street Auckland we may be successful in getting a binding referendum on the local voting system.

If each person gets just TWO signatures, we WILL be successful. Please get a few more since some people won¹t have the time, ok? I¹ve also attached a nicely formatted petition. If you are not sure if you have signed, please do so!

We have until THIS THURSDAY, 12 DEC to gather the remaining signatures to oblige the council to hold a binding referendum on the voting system. I apologise to those who have received multiple emails it is far easier for you to click delete on an email than it is for us to knock on each of your doors or to talk to this many people outside the library or supermarket or even for us to spend hours culling duplicates. If you can send this email to your network of friends, family and co-workers that would be great.

Your democracy, your choice please sign today! Any questions, call me at 361-5975 or visit for more info re: STV itself as well as the referendum. THANK YOU. Lynne

Message from the Water pressure Group. Hi folks! It is now URGENT that as many signs as possible go up around Auckland City to support freedom of expression and oppose political censorship. By putting a sign (with your own message) on your fence you will be making a stand in solidarity with WPG activist Ike Finau who faces jail time for using his gate and vehicle to express his views. Professionally printed black and yellow signs saying: "DEFEND DEMOCRACY!² are available from the 'Rupatation' café under the big ''Bushells' sign at 103 Wellington St, Freemans Bay. A donation of $5.00 per sign will help to cover printing costs. It's stand up and be counted time! Contact Penny Bright Media Spokesperson, WPG, Ph (09) 846 9825.
