F16 attack Gaza: 7 Palestinian Civilians Killed and
Tens Injured in Gaza by Israeli F16 and Apache Warplanes
GAZA, Palestine, March 8, 2003, IPC + agencies---Two Israeli F16 warplanes fired three missiles at a car in Gaza City after sundown Tuesday, followed by another rocket strike from Apache helicopters killing at least seven people and wounding at least 27.
The dead were not immediately identified. The mangled bodies were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where a scene of chaos leashed as ambulances ferried casualties from the scene of the strike.
Women and children were among the casualties brought to the hospital.
Residents said two Israeli F-16 fighter planes circled low over Gaza City, breaking the sound barrier, in the minutes before the air strike.
Following the F16 air strike, two Apache helicopters launched another attack, firing two rockets at the people gathered attempting to recover the bodies of the victims from the burnt car, residents added.
This was the first air strike in Gaza since the beginning of the US led coalition war of aggression on Iraq in which thousands of civilians, including journalist, were killed or injured.
