FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PRESS ADVISORY

"NO!" CAMPAIGN BLANKETS THE CITY,

CULMINATES AT UNION SQUARE AT 5:00PM TODAY

As George Bush finally shows his face at the Republican National Convention in New York City, tens of thousands of protesters at Madison Square Garden and around the city will be showing their defiance to all he stands for by displaying the word "NO!" in a very visible way. This "NO" campaign, initiated by Not In Our Name Project, is a way for people around the city to express their outrage at Bush and his agenda of global war and repression. Today tens of thousands of "NO" stickers, t-shirts, signs and posters and handmade signs and shirts will be displayed in city window and on the streets.

As part of this "NO!"campaign, the Not In Our Name project will rally in Union Square at 5:00pm and visually display a giant fabric "NO" held by dozens of people. This rally will then join the thousands of others at Madison Square Garden.

"New York has been transformed into a city of resistance, and every day of this week we've seen protesters braving the streets to say 'NO!' to the Bush agenda. We've seen this in spite of unprecedented levels of police violence and repression. Today, when Bush is being anointed and giving his speech, we will be delivering a loud, visual and resounding 'NO!' to this agenda of war, repression and the criminalization of dissent," states Tanya Mayo, National Coordinator for the Not in Our Name project.
