Guinean To Be Named Annan’s Special Envoy For Somalia
Former Guinean Prime Minister François Lonseny Fall has been chosen to be United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Special Representative for Somalia, a UN spokesman said today.
Mr. Fall was educated at the University of Conakry and taught there in the Faculty of Law before joining his country’s foreign service in 1982 and serving in France, the United States, Nigeria and Egypt.
In 2000 he became Guinea’s Ambassador at the UN and
was elected one of the Vice-Presidents of the fifty-fifth
General Assembly. From 2002 to 2004 he was Minister of
Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and served as Prime Minister
