Romania’s Cluj County to launch EU representation

Romania’s Cluj County to launch EU representation

Kent Johansson, leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) group in the Committee of the Regions, will be one of the main speakers at a reception to mark the inauguration of the Representation of Cluj County (Romania) to the European Union.

The event, which takes place in the European Parliament on 4 October, will be hosted by the chairman of the assembly’s ALDE group, Graham Watson, on behalf of the President of Cluj County, Marius Nicoara.

Cluj County is located in Transylvania, in the north-west of Romania. It covers almost 7,000 square kilometres and has a population of 725,000.

It is one of the country’s most dynamic regions, with high levels of foreign investment. The capital, Cluj-Napoca, is a centre for information technology and financial services; major industries in the county include pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, glass manufacturing, mechanical components and wood processing.
