French Polynesian opposition: Shuffled govt short

French Polynesian opposition says reshuffled government shortlived

A French Polynesian opposition politicians says he believes the re-shuffled government of Oscar Temaru will last no longer than two weeks.

In a surprise move, Mr Temaru appointed three opposition politicians as ministers and decided to stand down four of his ministers so that they could join the assembly to stave off a no-confidence threat.

The Rautahi Party leader, Jean Christophe Bouissou, has accused Mr Temaru of having bought the support of the opposition members.

And Mr Bouissou says the new arrangement won’t last.

“They are so different in this coalition to try to maintain this government, they probably have problems in the next few days.”
