American Samoa says more co-op. needed for drug

American Samoa says more co-operation needed to fight drug problems

American Samoa’s Police Commander, Va’a Sunia, says he would like to see the government intelligence agency and the police back under the same roof.

His call follows a report by the Office of Territorial and International Criminal Intelligence and Drug Enforcement, or OTICIDE, which said the territory was losing the war on drugs.

Va’a Sunia has rejected the findings from a police point of veiw saying that arrest and conviction rates are going up.

He suggests that OTICIDE might need to look to its own operations:

“I believe personally if the intelligence was to be put in good use, there would be some sort of collaborative effort or cooperative effort or that sort of thing.”
