Brisbane Summit to Encourage Investment Between Asia and Australia

BRISBANE, Feb.20 /Medianet International - AsiaNet/ --

BRISBANE Lord Mayor, the Right Honourable Councillor Campbell Newman, is encouraging Asian businesses with an interest in doing trade with Australia to attend the sixth biannual Asia Pacific Cities Summit to be held in Brisbane this September.

The four day Asia Pacific Cities Summit will be held in the second fastest growing region in the western world and will provide Asian business with an opportunity to make direct links with Australian government and business leaders.

“Containing Australia’s fastest growing industrial, international trade and business precinct, Brisbane has much to offer international business interests. We are very keen to explore and encourage even greater business interests with Asian business and government,” Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said.

“This Summit provides international delegates with direct links to Australian decision makers from companies and cities interested in growing trade relations and expanding business across the Asia Pacific.”

Opening Summit registrations to coincide with Chinese New Year, the Lord Mayor said he expected the Summit to attract hundreds of senior civic and business leaders from more than 20 countries and around 70 cities from throughout the Asia Pacific.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said that throughout the Summit, Brisbane City Council would facilitate business-matching opportunities for registered delegations to maximise trade opportunities.

“Council’s tailored business-matching will focus on linking international companies in the urban renewal, waterfront development and sustainable tourism sectors with local business,” Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said.

The Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) is held biennially, the host city alternating between Brisbane and the bidding cities from Asia Pacific. This year’s Summit is being held in Brisbane from 31 August to 3 September and the theme is Renewing Asia Pacific Cities.

Other international conferences also taking place at this time in Brisbane include the Climate Change Summit, RiverSymposium, and the Brisbane International Boat Show.
