Typhoon Fengshen Kills 97 In Iloilo, Philippines

Typhoon Frank kills 97 in Iloilo

Iloilo City, June 23 (PNA) – The death toll of Typhoon Frank in Iloilo province was placed at 97 as of 10 a.m. Monday.

Iloilo Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. said the casualties came from the 20 towns of province. They are as follows Janiuay, 28; Tigbauan, 13; Maasin, eight; Sta. Barbara, seven; Leganes, six; Cabatuan, four; San Enrique, four; Lambunao, three; Sara, three; Alimodian, three; Barotac Viejo, two; Passi City, two; Tubungan, two; and one each from Estancia, Concepcion, Igbaras, Barotac Nuevo, San Rafael, and Banate.

The number of missing persons was listed at 122. These are the from the towns of Cabatuan 9; Janiuay 25; Maasin 31; Barotac Viejo two; Ajuy three; Leganes two; Estancia five; Sta. Barbara five; Concepcion three; Miag-ao eight; Pavia five; Passi City three; Alimodian one; Tubungan two; Pototan three; San Miguel one; San Enrique two; San Joaquin three; Carles six; and Tigbauan three.

Tupas is expected to declare the entire province under a state of calamity.

At least 16 were injured when Typhoon "Frank" battered Iloilo over the weekend.

The number of famillies affected are 91,183 or 353,116 persons all over the province, according to Jerry V. Bionat, executive secretary of the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC).

The typhoon totally destroyed 5,717 houses and 10,411 partially damaged.
