2010 European Solar Prize

EUROSOLAR announces The 2010 European Solar Prize / Proposals are accepted until the end of June

Bonn, 19th April 2010 - Outstanding achievements, innovation and creativity in expanding the use of renewable energy will be recognised through the annual EUROSOLAR European Solar Prize also this year. EUROSOLAR accepts applications and proposals until 30th June 2010. The recipients will be honoured at a ceremonious event.

Established in 1994 the European Solar Prize has since been given for outstanding projects and individual achievements in making an exemplary contribution to the use of renewable energy. To cover the broad effects and diversity of renewable energy applications, the prize is presented in several categories:

- Towns/municipalities, council districts, public utilities
- Industrial and commercial companies or farmers
- Owners or operators of renewable energy installations
- Local or regional associations/organisations
- Solar architecture and urban planning
- Media
- Transport and mobility
- Education and vocational training
- Special achievement prize for individual commitment

The panel of judges will assess the applications received directly and also the proposals by the EUROSOLAR section members, chosen from submissions rewarded already at the national levels. The winners of the European Solar Prize will then be selected from all applications.
