AccuWeather reports winds at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi

State College, Pa. -- 25 March 2011 -- AccuWeather reports winds at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant will blow offshore on Saturday, local time.

A storm will be pushing off to the east of the area and will bring chilly northwesterly winds in the lower atmosphere in and about the site at the coast of northeastern Honshu, Japan.

Any radioactive fallout originating at the nuclear site will be directed out to sea at this time.

Northwesterly winds will persist through Sunday followed by light, mostly off shore winds during the first part of next week, so that is a bit of good news in an otherwise horrible situation.
