Royal Easter Show Celebrates 100th Birthday

Royal Easter Show Celebrates 100th Birthday at ASB Showgrounds!

From 21 to 25 April 2011, the Royal Easter Show is celebrating 100 years at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.

Chaz Cummings (NZ’s Got Talent winner) and Mandy Pickering (Stars in their Eyes winner) will be performing throughout the Royal Easter Show’s five-day family, fun-filled extravaganza. (The Royal Easter Show is NZ’s biggest family event.)

Chaz and Mandy will also be two of the judges, along with producer and talent spotter Steven James, at the Royal Easter Show’s, Hershey’s Classic Star Talent Quest, with $15,000 up for grabs.

The talent quest is looking for New Zealand’s best amateur talent. First prize is $10,000, second is $3,000 and third is $2,000! This is a huge opportunity for all amateur performers.

Enter the Hershey’s Classic Star Talent Quest via the Classic Hits radio website at http://www.classichits.co.nz/Competitions/CompDetails.aspx?id=21606. More info here: http://www.royaleastershow.co.nz/entertainment/talent-quest/

Entries close 5pm Tuesday 19 April 2011.

To keep in touch with our fans, the Royal Easter Show is now on Facebook. We’ll be providing live updates during the event and uploading pics of what’s on. We’re also giving away family passes and $200 prize packs via our Facebook competition. Visit http://www.facebook.com/RoyalEasterShow.

The huge news keeps coming with the Radio Sports NZ National Strongman competition. These heavyweight players will be competing on Friday 22 April and Saturday 23 April 2011 for the coveted NZ National Strongman title.

New Zealand’s answer to Hi-5 will be at the Royal Easter Show. With original songs and dance the Polkadots take young children and parents on an entertaining journey of the world. They’re lots of fun!

Our famous A&P Show, with champion breeds and prized specimens of all kinds, and where country meets town, will be here, as well as the educational Farm World, to teach kids about farm animals.

The ASB Showgrounds has seen a lot of culture in 100 years and Pacific Village brings an incredible selection of theirs to the show. Pacific Village is made up of five bands, 10 dance groups, seven artists and two workshops (playing log drums and Ukulele). Pacific Village alone is a great reason to visit the Royal Easter Show this year!

Alan Watson, one of New Zealand’s top magicians will be performing twice daily.

Cheer Dynamix, a cheerleading squad who won gold at the NZ Cheer & Dance Nationals will be performing throughout the show.

The Royal Easter Art Show, Cat Show and Wine Awards will be here. So too will our Equestrian events and an all-new Radio Hauraki Kiwi Lumberjack Show. You’ll love what these guys and girls do with wood.

If you like belly laughing you’ll love the Great Sheeplechase, where sheep race around a track with little Alf-like jockeys on their backs. So funny!!

Our wicked carnival rides will be here and so is the all-new TURBO BOOST ride. This ride is super-freaky. In fact it’s so scary you might need nappies! It will be free to enter the carnival area after 6pm from Thursday 21 April to Sunday 24 April (no gate fee, but rides still cost – the show closes at 6pm on Monday 25 April).

Yes we’re open Anzac Day! Monday 25 April.
