Christchurch appeal funds presented to Red Cross

SUVA, June 30 – Mai TV, in partnership with ANZ Bank and The Fiji Times, have raised more than $5,000 for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

The companies presented a cheque for $5,196.18 to the Fiji Red Cross at its headquarters in Suva today, to pass on to its New Zealand counterpart.

The money will help with the rehabilitation work following the Christchurch earthquake in February which left hundreds dead and devastated the city.

Mai TV’s Manoa Rasigatale, Stefan Fulton, ANZ’s head of transformation and The Fiji Times editor Fred Wesley presented the cheque to Fiji Red Cross acting director Christopher Ho.

The appeal had run on Mai TV, in The Fiji Times and at ANZ branches across Fiji from March to May 31.

The Fiji Red Cross Society will hand the money to The New Zealand High Commission and the New Zealand Red Cross to be distributed to the victims of the earthquake.

Stefan Fulton, ANZ’s head of transformation said: “I am deeply touched as a New Zealander. It’s great to see that so many Fijians have contributed to the appeal.”
