Trade Development Officer Position for Pacific Islands Forum

4 July 2011 - The Secretariat is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as Trade Development Officer who will be accountable to the Director of the Economic Governance Programme.

This position will be responsible to the Trade Development Adviser for:

• Support regional initiatives on the development of the private sector and export trade, including management of support staff;
• Provide services and technical advice, either directly or through consultants, development partners or other counterparts, to support the development of export trade, including management of support staff;
• Coordinate the activities and reporting of the Pacific Islands Trade and Invest network; and
• Coordinate the annual Private Sector Dialogue with Leaders.
Applicants should have an appropriate Degree (e.g. in Business Administration, Marketing) or minimum 7 years demonstrated experience in a similar position. Applicants should have good experience working in a regional or international environment with proven knowledge and understanding of regional social and economic conditions. Applications should have the ability to work with a small team of professional staff, set priorities successfully, to work with minimal supervision, have the ability to meet tight deadlines, and have experience in organising meetings and workshops. Applicants should be willing to travel economy class.

The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. The salary will be in the range of SDR22,754 – SDR34,131 per annum. At the 1 June 2011 exchange rate this salary range was equivalent to FJD64,114 to FJD96,171. For non-Fijian nationals, this salary may be tax-free.
