Church World Service, USAID “Feed the Future” open webinar: Tackling global food security


USAID’s Rajiv Shah, Paul Weisenfeld, Zeenat Rahman, CWS’s John McCullough to present


WASHINGTON, D.C./NEW YORK -- Thursday January 19, 2012 -- The United State Agency for International Development’s Center for Faith-based and Community Initiatives and global humanitarian agency Church World Service will present a live webinar briefing this Friday (January 20) to highlight what’s working, challenges and a look ahead in the struggle to develop global food security.


The event marks the first such webinar collaboration on global hunger organized by USAID's Center for Faith based and Community Initiatives particularly for the U.S. faith community and social justice advocates. Media, the public and faith-based constituencies are invited to attend and submit questions.


In the open Internet briefing, USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah, the agency’s Bureau for Food Security Assistant Administrator Paul Weisenfeld and other USAID leaders will join Church World Service Executive Director the Rev. John L. McCullough in sharing the latest tracks and findings of President Barack Obama’s Feed the Future initiative (http://www.feedthefuture.gov) and successful ground level food security approaches that CWS is supporting around the world.
