Dr. Tomicah Tillemann, Senior Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies, will travel to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from July 6 through July 10, 2012 as a United States representative to the Community of Democracies (CD) Governing Council Meeting.
On July 9, the United States and Republic of Estonia will formally launch a groundbreaking CD initiative to help bolster leaders in new democracies and support the exchange of best practices in democratic governance around the world – the LEND Network (for Leaders Engaged in New Democracies). The launch will serve as a virtual ribbon-cutting for the online platform and demonstrate the 21st century technologies that will be used to connect leaders who have successfully navigated the challenges of democratization with leaders in emerging democracies.
Dr. Tillemann will then travel to Hong Kong from July 11 through July 13, 2012 for meetings with civil society and local officials.
