Bolivia Struggles to Combat Narco Trade

Recent reports about Bolivian government officials’ involvement with drug trafficking, increased production of cocaine, and the presence of organized crime groups in Bolivia cause concern about the challenges the country faces in combating the narco trade. The Morales administration needs to acknowledge the severity of the issue and take greater steps than the ones already taken to prevent the country from becoming another “Ciudad Juarez.”

This report was prepared by Jorge Rojas-Ruiz, Research Associate at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs.
