‘ASIAN CENTURY’ MEANS SHARED PROSPERITY, RESPONSIBILITY AND MULTILATERAL AGREEMENTS, LAMY TELLS CONFERENCE
Asia has enjoyed a surge in trade in proportion to its economic size, is increasingly involved in global supply chains and has turned to free trade agreements to pursue its trade agenda. The time has come to “multilateralize” those agreements, WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy told a conference on “The Future of the World Trading System: Asian perspectives” on 11 March 2013

L’Asie a connu un essor commercial proportionnel à sa taille économique. Elle participe toujours plus aux chaînes de valeur mondiales et a opté pour des accords de libre-échange pour atteindre ses objectifs commerciaux. Le moment est venu de “multilatéraliser” ces accords, a dit Pascal Lamy, Directeur général de l’OMC, lors d’une conférence sur “L’avenir du système commercial international: Perspectives pour l’Asie”, le 11 mars 2013.

Asia ha disfrutado de una gran expansión del comercio proporcional a su magnitud económica, participa cada vez más en las cadenas de valor mundiales y ha recurrido a los acuerdos de libre comercio para llevar adelante su programa de comercio. En una conferencia celebrada el 11 de marzo de 2013 sobre el “Futuro del sistema mundial de comercio: Perspectivas asiáticas”, el Director General Pascal Lamy dijo que había llegado el momento de “multilateralizar” esos acuerdos.
