Rivers ACN Blasts PDP Over Unfair Deals

Rivers ACN Blasts PDP Over Unfair Deals

ALL is currently not well between the Rivers State wing of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

ACN is accusing the ruling party of corruptly inducing some of their officials to subvert the opposition party in the state. But the PDP is keeping sealed lips on this potentially dangerous allegation.

The accusation by the opposition is however, sequel to the alleged suspension of some key ACN officials by one Esuku M. Esuku, a stakeholder in the ACN, alleged to be acting for the PDP.

Esuku had in a seeming dramatic twist, announced  the suspension of ACN National Treasurer, Kenneth Kobani, the State Publicity secretary, Jerry Needam, Hon Lolo Ibieneye, Lali Green and other big wigs of the party.

But the Leader of the party in the state, Abiye Sekibo, in a counter move, accused Esuku of ''selling out to justify monetary inducements'' he allegedly received from his paymasters.

Sekibo, a former Transport Minister said the Esuku group was out to cause confusion and commotion in ACN,  ''but they have unfortunately failed in this evil trade''.

The ACN leader in an online statement to AkanimoReports on Monday, said the purported suspension allegedly endorsed by Esuku, ''has no other motive but to destabilize the ACN, being the only voice of the opposition in the state''.

Adding, he said, ''at no time was there any meeting where such decision was taken neither was it contemplated''.

He then urged the party faithfuls to discountenance the announcement, pointing out that ACN stands for the interest of Rivers people and against the injustice done to them.

''It has become very obvious that those who are desperate for a new cover having lost out in their party are now hell bent in penetrating the ACN in the state by using Esuku and others who have lent themselves as willing tools to destabilize the party.

''As a people oriented party, we’ll continue to protect and promote the welfare of Rivers people and ensure their hard earned resources and tax payers money are not wasted to satisfy personal interests and ambitions by those entrusted with them.

''This is the cardinal objective of our great party and cannot be wished away”, the ex-minister who was also the Secretary to the State Government during the Peter Odili administration said.
