GENEVA (29 January 2015) – Serbia is due to be reviewed for the first time by the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) which is meeting in Geneva from 2 to 13 February.

The Committee, which is composed of 10 international independent human rights experts, monitors implementation of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. Serbia is one of the 44 States that have ratified the Convention and so is required to submit a report for review to the Committee.

The Committee will hold a dialogue with a delegation from the Serbian Government on 4 February from 15:00 to 18:00 and from 10:00 to 13:00 on 5 February in Palais Wilson, Geneva.

Serbia’s submitted report and a list of the issues that may be raised can be found at:http://tbinternet.ohchr.org/_layouts/treatybodyexternal/SessionDetails1.aspx?SessionID=972&Lang=en

The CED will publish its concluding observations on Serbia and the two other States being reviewed during the February session, Mexico and Armenia, on Friday 13 February here: http://tbinternet.ohchr.org/_layouts/treatybodyexternal/SessionDetails1.aspx?SessionID=972&Lang=en
