Deputy Secretary Higginbottom Travel to Afghanistan

Deputy Secretary Heather Higginbottom traveled to Afghanistan February 4-5. While in Afghanistan, the Deputy Secretary met with President Ghani and reviewed U.S. government operations and assistance programs. Deputy Secretary Higginbottom also met with justice, infrastructure, democracy, health, counternarcotics, and education implementing partners to discuss their challenges, achievements, and innovations. Additionally, Deputy Secretary Higginbottom held a town hall at Embassy Kabul with Ambassador McKinley to speak directly with embassy staff about the importance of their work to U.S. foreign policy goals in Afghanistan and to thank them for their hard work and sacrifices.
