UN Human Rights Committee Upcoming Reviews

UN Human Rights Committee to review Venezuela, the UK, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Spain, Canada, Uzbekistan, France

GENEVA (22 June 2015) – The UN Human Rights Committee, which monitors implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), is meeting in Geneva from 29 June to 24 July. The Committee will review these countries on the following dates:

Venezuela (29-30 Jun); UK (1-2 July); Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (2-3 July); Spain (6-7 July);
Canada (7-8 July); Uzbekistan (8-9 July); France (10 July)

The above are among the 168 States Parties to the ICCPR, which is one of the main international human rights treaties, and so are required to submit regular reports to the Committee of 18 international independent experts. The Committee will also hear from NGOs and national human rights institutions. The sessions take place from 10:00 - 13:00 and 15:00 - 18:00 at Palais Wilson, Geneva.
