Carrello del Gelato's sorbetto goes on sale in Singapore

CARRELLO DEL GELATO’S SORBETTO GOES ON SALE IN SINGAPORE

Sorbetto from Wellington-based Carrello del Gelato will feature at this year’s Taste New Zealand -Cold Storage Food Fair in Singapore.

Carrello del Gelato’s chief executive Nathan Meyer said, “This is an important milestone for the company. It marks our first export order and the beginning of a relationship with Cold Storage, Singapore’s leading supermarket chain.”

The Taste New Zealand – Cold Storage Food Fair is an annual event that will take place this year between 23-29 May. The Food Fair comprises a pop-up store at Plaza Singapura, one of Singapore’s largest shopping malls and located on Orchard Road, along with a two week in-store promotion involving 25 of Cold Storage’s premium outlets. Each day, some 1,500 visitors will visit the Plaza Singapura pop-up store alone.

The first sorbetto consignment to Cold Storage comprises 3,000 stock units. Following consignments will be on a monthly basis to ensure the outlets have a continuous supply of freshly made sorbetto available.

Cold Storage, establish in 1903, is Singapore’s oldest established supermarket operator and has 48 outlets across the island and a further 19 stores in Malaysia.

“There’s a growing demand across Asia and in Singapore in particular for healthy food choices. Our Sorbetto range provides these discerning customers with a healthy, delicious non-dairy treat which is gluten free, 99% fat free and made with real fruit.

“The Taste New Zealand – Cold Storage Food Fair and in-store promotions provide the ideal opportunity to establish our brand in affluent Singapore. Given our relationship with Cold Storage, we plan to focus on growing the Singapore market this year before looking further afield in Asia,” Nathan Meyer said.
