Pygmy Marmosets stolen from Symbio Wildlife Park

Pygmy Marmosets stolen from Symbio Wildlife Park, including one newborn!

At some point between Friday night (25th) and the early hours of Saturdaymorning (26th) there was a break in at Symbio Wildlife park, South of Sydney. This resulted in the theft of three Pygmy Marmosets - Gomez (Dad), Sofia (10 months) and one of our newest babies (4 weeks old).

Our primary concerns are for the welfare of the entire family - in particular the 4 week old baby who is not yet on solid feeds and require mums milk to survive.

Pygmy Marmosets are a highly social species and a very tight knit family, so this is very distressing on all of the Marmosets.

It is believed that due to Gomez nurturing the tiny baby, that the thieves were of the impression he was actually the mother.

The team at Symbio Wildlife Have taken to social media along with asking for the help of all news outlets and individuals to get as many people aware of this as possible and aid in the return of the marmosets, safe and sound.

Symbio Wildlife Park and NSW Police are seeking anyone with information to urgently make contact with Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 , and are urging the perpetrators to return them either to the zoo, or to their closest veterinarian to ensure their survival.
