Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on attack in Cairo
The Secretary-General condemns today’s attack in St. Peter's Church, attached to St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo, in which dozens of people were killed and injured.
The Secretary-General expresses his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt. He wishes a quick recovery to those injured and hopes that the perpetrators of this horrific terrorist act against a place of worship will be swiftly identified and brought to justice.
