Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tonight.

For the North Island: Fine apart from cloudy periods in the
north and west.

Nelson and Marlborough: Cloudy about the western ranges of Nelson
otherwise fine.

West of the South Island: Rain in Fiordland with heavy falls
from tonight. Elsewhere patchy rain working north.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland: High cloud increasing. Rain
developing in the western ranges. A few falls spreading further
east about Southland and Otago later. Gale northwesterlies about
Stewart Island, winds becoming strong and gusty in many other
places from afternoon.

Chatham Islands: Mainly fine.
