For Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty:
A few showers becoming heavier and more frequent this afternoon.

From Waikato to Wellington, also for the central plateau:
Rain areas slowly clearing from the north but a few showers remaining.

From Gisborne to Wairarapa: Rain in most places but brighter periods
increasing this afternoon.

Buller, northern Westland and Nelson: Patchy rain.

Remaining areas of Westland, also for Fiordland: High cloud but dry.

Marlborough, Canterbury and Otago: Rain in most areas becoming more
persistent especially about the eastern hills and coast from
afternoon. Snow expected there later today above 1500 metres.

Southland: Cloudy with brief rain from this afternoon.

For Chatham Islands: Outbreaks of rain.
