Weather Workshop: Short forecast for NZ

Short Forecast valid to midnight tomorrow:

North and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for the central plateau and Bay of Plenty: A few showers about Northland tonight but mainly fine elsewhere. Tomorrow mainly fine with frosts in sheltered places.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, also coastal Marlborough: Cloudy with drizzly showers persisting. Showers slowly clearing from the south tomorrow.

Wellington: Showers becoming confined to the eastern hills tonight. Fine spells increasing elsewhere. Tomorrow, a mix of cloud and fine breaks.

For Nelson, inland areas of Marlborough: Mainly fine apart from a few cloudy periods.

For the South Island west coast and Southland: Mostly fine but cloud increasing south of the glaciers and about western Southland tonight. Tomorrow, rain developing in Fiordland and Southland with increasing cloud elsewhere.

Canterbury: Mainly fine for the remainder of today apart from a few cloudy periods about the coast. Fine and frosty inland tomorrow with remaining areas of coastal cloud clearing.

Otago: Cloudy periods about the coast tonight otherwise fine and becoming frosty. Tomorrow, fine at first but high cloud increasing later with patchy rain spreading from the west towards evening.

Chatham Islands: Showers continuing.
