Weather Workshop: Short forecast for NZ

Short Forecast valid to midnight tonight:

The north and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for the central high country: Showery conditions, some thunder likely this morning.

Bay of Plenty, also for eastern areas from Gisborne to Marlborough and Wellington: Long fine periods but showers spreading from the main ranges at times. Cold southerlies spread into Wellington and Wairarapa by afternoon.

Nelson: Showers clearing later.

South Island west coast: Showery in many places. Becoming mostly fine south of Hokitika but showers persisting about southern Fiordland with snow there at night to 800 metres.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland: Showers and southerlies working northward this morning. Snow to 800 metres inland.

Chatham Islands: Rain breaking to showers with northeast winds easing.
