Auckland Harbour Bridge Warning

Transit Regional OfficeAuckland 20 June 2002 Media Release Transit New Zealand is advising drivers of high-sided vehicles and motorcyclists to avoid using the Auckland Harbour Bridge where winds are presently gusting at between 85 and 90 kph.
Transit's Regional Asset Manager, Philip Sutton, said that if it was absolutely necessary for them to cross the bridge they should use only the centre lanes and to avoid the clipon lanes completely.

Mr Sutton said that Transit was closely monitoring the situation, which he expected to worsen towards dusk. "My advice to all motorists having to cross the bridge is to do so earlier rather than later today," he said.
