Public Invited to Meetings on Improving Clendon Library

Manukau City Council is inviting Clendon and Manurewa residents to meetings on future options for the Clendon Library.

Council has approved a feasibility study to look into issues with the size and layout of the Clendon library, and visibility of and access to the library building.

Libraries Planner Dena Gilmore says that while the Clendon Library is an important part of the community, offering many positive activities and reading programmes to local residents, it's building needs improvement.

"As part of the study, we want to talk with the community about any issues it may have with the current library building, and about options for addressing them. Options may include relocating the library or extending it."

Two public meetings are being held to which all interested people are invited on 3 February at 7pm and 5 February at 9am. Both meetings will be held in the Clendon Community Centre, 17 Palmers Road, Clendon.

People wishing to attend are asked to contact Karen Raynes on (09) 262 8900 ext 8725 by 27 January to confirm attendance.

People who cannot get to one of the meetings, but wish to give Council their feedback, can do so by 9 February in writing, by emailing dgilmore@manukau.govt.nz or faxing Dena on 09-262 5171.

"We’d love to hear from Clendon library users and Clendon residents. This is an opportunity to influence the future development of library services in the Clendon area," says Mrs Gilmore.
