Motorway closures as part of CMJ upgrade

Work on Stage 2 of Transit New Zealand’s Central Motorway Junction project is continuing.

Temporary traffic safety barriers are already in place along the edge of the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) connection to the Port (port bound), and are being extended further west to allow CMJ Stage 2 works to continue.

Closures: The Northwestern Motorway to Port (SH16) link will be closed overnight, between 10.00pm Monday 19 April and 5.00am the following morning.

Motorists travelling to the Port are advised to follow the detours which will be fully sign-posted while the motorway closure is in place.

The motorway links will be closed to complete the installation of new lane markings and new temporary barriers.

If required, the closure will be extended to the night of Tuesday 20 April.

Motorists are advised to take extra care through the area as they adjust to the changes.

Transit apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their co-operation.

The work is part of Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, which covers the section of motorway between Wellington Street and Symonds Street on the Southern Motorway (SH1) and between Symonds St and Bond Street on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16), and is scheduled for completion in 2006.

More information about the work can be obtained by phoning 0800 CMJ Core (0800 265 2673) or by visiting www.transit.govt.nz/cmj
