Final results for the Tamaki Community Board by-election

Auckland City’s Electoral Officer Dale Ofsoske advises that Arna METCALFE has been elected as the new member for the Tamaki Community Board following a by-election which concluded at midday today.

Final results are: Julian AUSTIN (Citizens & Ratepayers Now) 1328 Nellie Tepora CLAY (Ngati Whatua o Orakei) 309 Leanne CROSS (Independent) 949 Bernice HALL (Independent) 1307 Arna METCALFE (Labour) 2411 Tala PO’E (Progressive Party) 582

There were 20 informal votes and 29 blank votes returned. The by-election’s three-week postal voting period began on Tuesday, 25 July 2006 and final voter turnout was a disappointing 23.2 per cent compared to a turnout of 48.3 per cent of Auckland city voters having cast a vote in the local authority elections in 2004.
