Accident North of Paekakariki - Westpac Rescue Helicopter Involvement

The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported an 11 year old girl with serious chest injuries from the accident near Paekakariki earlier this evening.

We understand that there were a total of 7 patients - one flown by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, one flown by the Square Trust Rescue Helicopter from Palmerston North and five transported by Wellington Free Ambulance - from the accident.

We landed approximately 200 metres from the accident scene so have no further information regarding the incident.
