Young Designers Prepare For Fashion Show 2007

Fashion flat fills with excitement as young designers prepare for New Zealand's Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show 2007

Gemma Webb, Fiona Ralph, Helen Adam and Kate Anderson are four young graduates of Otago Polytechnic's fashion school all appearing in the 2007 Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show.

Three flatmates and friends Fiona, Helen and Kate are putting together their stylist kits, sorting out hair, deciding what to wear, and texting each other about shoes as they prepare for New Zealand fashion's big night out.

Kate Anderson is spending her summer working on the chain at a Southland freezing works - which provided the inspiration behind her collection.

Fiona Ralph has just finished work-experience at ACP media in Auckland, and styling a fashion shoot after designing her "American Booty" collection.

Helen Adam is relaxing in Invercargill after a whirlwind year that included a week with the Karen Walker fashion house as part of the "Inspiring New Zealanders" programme.

21 year old Gemma Webb of Dunedin, found some inspiration in teen rebellion against rules and conformity with her anti-establishment Autumn/Winter 2007 collection “High School High" for her first showing at this year's ID Show.

Guest designer Cybèle will be in town especially for the Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show with her "not be missed" range.

Vodafone ID Dunedin Event Co-ordinator Annemarie Mains said the calibre of new, emerging and established designers for ID Dunedin just keeps growing, and Gemma is a fantastic example of this.

Twenty three labels from established, emerging and new generation designers will take part in the Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show, to be held on Saturday 10 March 2007, starting at 8pm, at the Dunedin Railway Station.

Carlson, Cherry Cotton Candy, Charmaine Reveley, Dot Com New Zealand, Elusiv, Firefly, Joan Leach, Keita Machine, Keucke, Love Lies Bleeding, Mild Red, Monday Morning, Nom*D, Tamsin Cooper, Gemma Webb, Kate Anderson, Fiona Ralph, Helen Adam, Cybèle, and four emerging designers from the ID Awards make up the biggest Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show for the city yet.

Tickets for the 2007 Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show go on sale at Ticketek on 7 February, and range from $45, $60, or $85 for a front row seat.

The Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show is seven years old in 2007, and the finale event for Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Week, held from 6-10 March 2007 in Dunedin, New Zealand.

The Dunedin Railway Station is just the venue to show off Dunedin fashion – and according to DK Eyewitness Travel is up there with the Sydney Opera House and India's Taj Mahal as an architectural wonder.

Dunedin is a tiny dot on a world map, but a pulsing nerve centre of creative endeavour – an unconventional and individual city that creates and is created by unconventional and individual people.
