Napier City Councillor Rob Lutter has announced that he will stand in the Taradale Ward at the up and coming City Council elections.
Rob said; "With the decision set by the Local Government Commission to an at-large and ward system, I would like to embrace the change and put my name forward for the new Taradale ward. Having lived in Taradale for all my 11 years in Hawkes Bay, with my company base, my wife's employment, my three children's education at Reignier, Taradale Intermediate and Taradale High School and their sports in Taradale, I believe that it would be an honour to represent the Taradale people in council for the coming 3 years if re-elected for my second term."
Rob and his family have been apart of the Napier community for the last 11 years, buying a retail business in Emerson St after moving from Wellington in 1996.
Past Chair of Napier Inner City Marketing, Past Chair of Board of Trustee for Reignier School. He is currently a Director of a Business Consultancy Company, plus present involvement in community work such as Dept Chair Board of Trustees Taradale High School, Rotary and Dept Chair of Napier Safety Trust.
Assigned the role of Chair of Safer Napier by the Mayor, Rob has lead a focused representative group of Community Organizations and Government agencies on strategies to reduce crime through crime prevention of which are; Ka Hao Te Rangatahi Maori youth project, Maraenui Urban Renewal Plan, West Quay Crime Prevention through Urban Design project, Napier Inner City Security Plan, Napier Alcohol Liaison Group and The Parent Pack booklet - "tools for the teenage years".
Rob said "Safer Napier has been able to secure funding of $1.2 million for strategies from Government Agencies over the last three years which have had a direct impact on reducing crime and providing better social wellbeing in our city".
He has very much enjoyed his first term on council, taking the time to learn council processes and carefully reading reports, analyzing, and then debating them. Rob said; "Not only participating in Council meetings, I have also learnt more about our community by actively visiting other community groups that make Napier a better place".
