Press statement on behalf of the Hinchcliff family

9th February 6.30pm

The family of Edward Hinchcliff today called for anyone with information about his death to come forward to help the police investigation.

Edward Hinchcliff, 24, was found collapsed on Hobson Street in Auckland on Thursday afternoon. He later died in hospital of a brain aneurysm.

He is the son of a former Auckland city councillor and AUT vice-chancellor Dr John Hinchcliff and the nephew of former Prime Minister, Sir Geoffrey Palmer.
Police say he had unexplained facial injuries and his car is still missing.

Dr and Mrs Hinchcliff issued a statement tonight thanking everyone who had sent support and condolences.

“Obviously this is a difficult time. We urge anyone who has any further information about this tragedy to please provide it to the police.”
A private funeral will be held tomorrow.
