Update On Minibus Driver Condition

The 39-year-old Tokoroa driver of the minibus involved in an accident at Maungatautari near Cambridge yesterday issued a media statement from his bed in a ward at Waikato Hospital today where he is in a comfortable condition.

"There are so many people I would like to thank - the Kohanga Raukawa who were following behind me and gave assistance, local farmers at the scene, emergency services including fire, police and ambulance and of course the hospital.

"I'm happy the children came out unscathed. I took the impact because I am the guardian of those children.

"Ma te Atua koutou e tiaki e manaaki i ngā wā kātoa."

Some media have requested interviews and pictures, he declines those requests.
