News release from
Hutt City Council and

Hutt City Council

Youth survey asks
the Hutt’s 12 - 24 year olds ‘how it is’
How do
young people in the Hutt Valley like to spend their
time?
That’s what Hutt City and Upper Hutt City councils want to find out in the first Hutt Valley wide youth survey.
Leanne Campbell, community development manager at Hutt City Council, says the survey asks questions on safety, health, education, work and where young people like to spend their time.
“It will provide significant information for both councils and local agencies to address issues identified by the young people themselves.
“As the first combined council survey we want to build on previous Upper Hutt efforts where they identified issues and addressed them by making positive changes across the valley.”
Andrea Curtis, director of community services at Upper Hutt City Council, agrees.
“We’ve seen several youth initiatives as a direct result of our previous surveys including youth ambassadors, youth worker training and events in Upper Hutt.
“This year we’re seeking input from 12 to 24 year olds as we want to explore opportunities for young people within school, work and study environments.”
The survey is available online from 21 July to 27 August at www.surveymonkey.com/s/huttyouthsurvey. Hard copies will also be distributed through schools, youth venues, community centres and local libraries.
To say thanks for their time, respondents will also go in a draw to win a PS3 and lots of other great prizes.
