Celia Wade-Brown Standing For Mayor Of Wellington

Celia Wade-Brown Is Standing For Mayor Of Wellington.

The elections are by postal vote and the results will be announced on October 9th.

Feedback so far tells us many Wellingtonians are very ready for a change!

Celia has been a hard-working well-respected councillor and is now ready to be Mayor. She will listen to a wide range of Wellingtonians and be an inclusive leader.

These are her priorities:

Good transport choices:

- walking - to school, to the bus or train, round the city, to suburban shops, through reserves

- cycling - to work more safely, around the Great Harbour Way from the South Coast to Petone and beyond

- public transport - more reliable and cleaner buses, more welcoming train stations and light rail to the airport

- driving - improvements for tradespeople, deliveries, car-sharing and emergency vehicles

Good technologies for good jobs:

- renewable energy - solar, wind in appropriate locations, marine (tidal and wave)

- local innovative engineering - to support solutions to waste and pollution

- ultra fast broadband - for the creative sector and working from home

- building on our strengths - as the centre of NZ's extensive marine economic zone

Local Community Action

- cost-effective local partnerships - for social support, recreation, sport and ecology

- community resources - gardens, skill-sharing, curtain banks to make Wellington more affordable

- promoting neighbourhood activity - for safety and to reduce anonymity

- providing Council facilities (libraries and community centres) locally - at the heart of our communities
