Auckland Council recommendation for remaining remuneration funds

The Auckland Council will recommend to the Remuneration Authority how it believes the remaining funds it had available for remuneration should be allocated.

That follows a meeting of the governing body today.

The independent Remuneration Authority has the responsibility for determining the remuneration of elected local body members.

The Authority set initial levels for councillor remuneration before the election.

It indicated that part of the funding pool available to the Auckland Council would be retained for allocation before 31 January 2011 once the council had decided on its structure and the responsibilities of individual members so it could adequately recompense those members who have additional responsibilities.

The Authority has made available the remaining $200,000 from the Auckland Council remuneration pool and this was recommended in the following way:
