Injured bus driver off life support

The 52-year-old Hamilton bus driver trapped under his bus outside Waikato Hospital's carpark building last week is now off life support in the hospital's intensive care unit and in a stable condition in the high dependency unit.

Ross McSheffrey's wife Trish said today her husband's condition, while still of concern, had improved and he had been speaking to family and friends.

Meanwhile a 20-year-old man (see below) injured on Boxing Day when his northbound car left the road on SH1B, north of Gordonton in Hamilton, is also in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital's high dependency unit.
