Christchurch Locals Launch "Munted Mates"
Many in the east side of Christchurch are describing themselves as "munted" following the September earthquake. A couple of locals have decided to invite people going through the insurance and rebuild process to come along for a regular meeting to compare notes about how to make the most of the process.
Donald Pettitt, one of the group organisers, has a severely damaged home in South Brighton and he says "I was reading all the stuff they kept sending me and phoning all the right people but I still haven't got it sorted in my head. And I'm an engineer!"
Peter Moore and Donald decided on the "Munted Mates" name as they thought it best captures what so many people are feeling right now.
The launch for the fortnightly group will happen on the coming Thursday 21st of April, 7:30 pm- 9 pm at St Faith's Anglican Church Hall, 46 Hawke St, New Brighton. Those with "munted homes" in New Brighton will know this as the local "Recovery Assistance Centre", though the group is for all people in driving distance.
"Munted Mates" is co-sponsored by Mensline Christchurch and the Canterbury Men's Centre, though the group is meant for both men and women.
