Hawke's Bay Regional Council - the state of our environment | October 2011
October was notable for being a showery month with the occasional downpour and rumble of thunder – typically during the bike ride home from work it seemed.
For many places there were more wet
days in October than any other month so far this year, with
at least some rain tending to fall every 2 out of 3 days.
Frequent but small amounts meant that rainfall for the
month came close to normal across the region, although the
Heretaunga and Ruataniwha Plains received a little more.
River flows have risen as a result and soil moisture is
looking healthy for the time of year.
