Send an ANZAC Message to Our Kiwi Forces

Send an ANZAC Message to Our Kiwi Forces

Hearing from your family and friends on significant days and holidays is something most New Zealanders take for granted. But for the 831 New Zealand Defence Force personnel currently serving overseas contact from home on days like Christmas Day and Anzac Day is especially important.

“Our personnel spend long periods of time away from their families and friends and for the military Anzac Day is an especially significant day,” said Commander Joint Forces New Zealand Major General Dave Gawn.

“We have set up a message box on the NZDF website so the public can send an Anzac Day message to military personnel deployed overseas. We have done this for the last four years and the messages are always well received by our personnel.”

The messages will be sent to each overseas mission on 24 April, the day before Anzac Day, and can be either a general message or for an individual.

“Anzac Day is a day to commemorate the past but is also a day when we reflect on the work of our Defence personnel currently serving our country both in NZ and overseas. The values they hold today are the same as those held by the ANZACs of the First World War,” MAJ GEN Gawn said.

“We hope that New Zealanders show their support for our military personnel serving around the world on Anzac Day.”
